The Mountain In My Mind
Throughout 2021 and 2022 I helped create the artwork and promotional material for a ski movie titled "The Mountain In My Mind". The film presents an incredibly important message of de-stigmatizing mental health in the ski industry. The rocky mountains, specifically ski towns, are labeled the "suicide belt" of America due to disproportionally high rates of suicide (nearly triple the rest of the country). The film explores the personal stories of individuals in the ski community who have struggled with all forms of mental health obstacles. Their stories, told in their own words, are beautifully intertwined with on-location shots of their skiing. You can watch the movie here!
The film's director, John Padilla, began this journey of mental health awareness when he lost his younger brother, Jack, to suicide in 2019 when Jack was only fifteen years old. The film is dedicated to Jack, as well as John's non-profit organization JackStrong17, which focuses on teen-suicide prevention.
